I’m Erika Noma, a UX designer & researcher from Tokyo, based in New York City.

I have over 5 years of experience helping different companies define and create their product.

With a diverse background encompassing user research, graphic design, software engineering, and project management, across technology industry, advertising, and traditional academia, I humanize technology through research-informed solutions that blend user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility. I am passionate about inclusive design and helping people regain control of their relationship with technology.

I hold a Master of Science degree in Integrated Design and Media (Human-Computer Interaction) from NYU Tandon School of Engineering and a Bachelor’s in International Liberal Studies from Waseda University.

Originally from Tokyo, Japan, I went to Waseda University to study computer science. During this time, I worked as a UX Researcher/product manager at Mercari and helped develop two new mobile apps. This experience gave me a strong interest in understanding how good user experience can change people’s lives for the better, and how understanding users is the key to product success.

After that, I worked at Twitter as a UX Researcher on their anti-abuse efforts and later transitioned to account management. Three years of direct client interaction honed my user-centric mindset, business understanding, and problem-solving skills.

Since then, I studied Human-Computer Interaction and UX Design at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and led end-to-end user experience and product design process for Reprozip, a digital archiving tool for traditional academia, while helping companies with website design and development.

In my free time, I volunteer at UXPA NYC and UXrescue to share my knowledge and experiences. I also play around with AR, coding, make videos, read mystery books, cook, play piano, tennis, and ballet.
